Vibrational Energy
Have you ever been around someone whose sadness, anger or joy is infectious? That person’s mere presence can light up or dim the room and the moods of others around. Or have you walked into a place of worship and felt the reverence, or an historical site and felt the energy of an event that took place many years earlier? We relate to others and events through energy. We are energy beings. Likewise, in the world of Flower Essences, each type of flower has its own unique, signature energy that we absorb on a subtle, energetic level.
According to Dr. Richard Gerber, “Since all energy vibrates and oscillates at different rates, then, at least at the atomic level, the human body is really composed of different kinds of vibrating energy. The term ‘vibrational medicine’ comes from this fact.” (pg. 6, A Practical Guide to Vibrational Medicine, Richard Gerber, M.D., 2000)
Flower essences have been used for decades as a form of vibrational medicine. In the early 1900’s, Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician and bacteriologist, reintroduced flower essences to our modern world after his research showed a link between stress, emotions, and illness. Dr. Bach found that flower essences can restore harmony in the diseased body through emotional wellness. Today, flower essences are widely used by individuals, practitioners, and even veterinarians to support the treatment of our four legged friends.
Emotional and Physical Stress
Flower essences work primarily on our emotional body. But just like the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone, and eventually connects to the hip bone and all the other bones, our emotional body is connected to both our mental and physical bodies. When I’m feeling emotional stress or mental tension, this will always eventually translate into a tight jaw and/or a headache, tense shoulder muscles, insomnia, an upset stomach, or any given combination of symptoms. If I don’t acknowledge and deal with my emotional stress, my physical symptoms can spiral into more chronic discomforts such as TMJ, chronic migraines, limited mobility. Conversely, by addressing the emotional tension, the blocked energy is released, eventually freeing up the pressure in the physical body.
Long before modern medicine, the ancients made the connection between our physical, emotional and mental bodies. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, and Homeopathy are all based on this principle. An increasing number of people, globally, are incorporating practices such as Qi-Gong, Tai-chi, Yoga, and various meditation techniques into their daily lives, to balance and harmonize their emotional and physical well-being.
Ancient Wisdom and Life Transitions
Ancient cultures, such as the Mayans, used flower essences not just for healing, but also to support individuals and communities in transitioning through phases and seasons. Just like everything else in nature, we continuously transition through cycles and seasons, births, deaths, rebirths. We are constantly turning over leaves that mark our emotional and psychological evolution – from infancy, to the first day of school; graduation; forging new partnerships with friends, lovers, co-workers; divorce; retirement – the list is endless. Essences help us integrate our past experiences and learning into a vision that takes us into the next phase. They help us move forward with grace and ease.
If you are feeling emotional or physical strain, if you are going through a life transition, if you want to gain clarity, vision and inspiration, Flower Essences can support you.
